Application Process

Minimum Requirements

Applicants:

  • Must be registered in or have completed an Undergraduate program at any accredited Manitoba University.
  • Must have a minimum 3.60 GPA (4.5 scale)
  • Must be willing to make a minimum 5-day commitment (April 2017)
  • Must have a prior clinical experience (ie. Hospital or personal care home)
  • Must provide the selection committee with two reference letters (Cannot be from family members or friends)
  • Must provide the selection committee with one unofficial copy of a university transcript (this will ne to be uploaded in the application form)
  • Must provide the selection committee with an official criminal record check and child abuse registry (Only required if accepted into the program)

In addition to completing the application form and meeting these requirements, the students must attend an informational session AND pay a $25.00 non-refundable processing fee.  Payments will be made through PayPal following completion of the online application form.  

Applications will open in January 2017. 

The deadline to submit applications for the 2016-2017 academic year is February 22, 2017
No extensions of the deadline will be made.  

Selection Process

The selection committee, comprised of this years coordinators and a representative from the Office of Rural & Northern Health, will review the applications of all applicants and select the top 13 for an interview.  From this group, 9 students will be selected into the program for the 2017 cycle.  

The following weights will be assigned to the pre-interview criteria for the current admissions cycle:

  • 40% Personal Statement
  • 30% References (15% per reference)
  • 20% Previous Clinical Experience
  • 10% Attendance at the information session
